Learn More About Workout Timers
What Is a Workout Timer?
A workout timer is an online interval training tool that tracks work and rest periods for high-intensity workouts. Unlike a regular stopwatch, it automatically transitions between phases with audio cues so you can focus on your exercise without watching the clock. This free online workout timer runs directly in your browser — no download, no sign-up, no installation required.
How to Use the Tabata Timer
Tabata is a 4-minute high-intensity protocol: 20 seconds of all-out work followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8 times. To use this Tabata timer:
- Select “Tabata” from the mode list
- Adjust rounds (default: 8), work duration (20s), and rest (10s) if needed
- Optionally enable warm-up and cool-down
- Press Start — the boxing bell rings to signal each work interval
How to Use the EMOM Timer
EMOM stands for “Every Minute On the Minute.” At the start of each minute, you complete a set number of reps, then rest for whatever time is remaining. The faster you finish, the more rest you earn. This EMOM timer automatically calculates your rest period based on the work duration you set — work and rest always total 60 seconds.
How to Use the AMRAP Timer
AMRAP means “As Many Rounds As Possible.” Set a time limit and complete as many rounds of your exercise circuit as you can before time runs out. Your score is the total rounds completed. This AMRAP timer counts down from your chosen duration and tracks each round automatically.
How to Use the Custom Timer
The Custom mode lets you build any interval workout. Set your own work duration, rest duration, number of rounds, warm-up, cool-down, and even multiple sets with rest between them. Save your favorite configurations as templates for quick access later.
